OOTD: Zebra Print with Pink Peplum

Here's a quick OOTD from today that is fun, girly, and flirty, and fierce. I styled the whole look around this gorgeous faux fur zebra print collarless coat that I picked out from H&M recently that I totally adore. I am a big fan of faux fur cuz they are really warm and fun to rock and totally animal friendly since they are faux fur.  I knew I wanted to add a pop of color when styling around a black/white color combo, so I chose this medium pink shade wool fitted peplum skirt with a zipper back. I styled the skirt with an off white shade with letter print button down blouse tucked in and finished with black opaque tights, pair of black leather ankle bow booties and black leather satchel. For jewels, I added a pink/cream color statement necklace, and one of my fav edgy black onyx stretch bracelet from Jewelmint.

Peplum: Most Flattering and Forgiving Silhouette

Another piece of style I adore are anything peplum either be tops, skirts, or dresses. The peplum shape is one of the most forgiving and flattering shape for women. They give off a nice feminine figure that hugs at the right places where the fitted waist showcase the smallest part while the flare bottom help to camouflage the widest part. It works great for those who has a boyish or straight shape by giving off the illusion of a more curvy figure.

How To Style Peplum Pieces

The general common rule or basis in styling pieces cohesively is to make sure there is a right balance on the fit and shape. For example, when you are wearing a loose top, you want to make sure to keep the bottom more fitted to off balance the shapeless top. In reverse, when wearing a loose bottom, you want to opt for a more fitted top. When styling a peplum top, even though the top is fitted but since the bottom portion of the top flares out, it is a better option to wear a more fitted and slim cut bottom. The same holds true when styling a peplum skirt, you should opt for a more fitted top tucked in to showcase the peplum flare.
